Ian Dogole & Music Beyond Borders In Concert

  • 142 Throckmorton Theatre 142 Throckmorton Avenue Mill Valley, CA, 94941 United States (map)

Please join multipercussionist/bandleader/recording artist Ian Dogole and his stellar cast of collaborators for a concert of adventurous music that pushes the envelope – straddling the intersections of Jazz, world music and free improvisation.

Experience a stunning array of drums and melodic percussion instruments that bridge the ancient and the modern – from the traditional clay pot (udu) and talking drum of Nigeria – to the East African thumb piano (kalimba) – to the Afro-Peruvian box drum (cajon) – to the riveting futuristic Swiss melodic percussion invention inspired by the steel pans of Trinidad (hang).

Mix in a dizzying assortment of woodwinds (including 3 bass clarinets playing together) and grand piano and double bass, and you can start to create a picture of the visual and aural palette that will grace the Throckmorton stage.

The compositional talents of the band will also be very much on display, along with fresh interpretations of pieces by Jazz luminaries such as Alice Coltrane, Michael Brecker and Dave Holland

This event will take place at the delightful 142 Throckmorton Theatre in downtown Mill Valley – an incredible venue for experiencing creative improvised music.

Tickets can be purchased online for $22 (in advance) or $25 (day of show). Tickets are $25 at the door. To purchase tickets online, please visit https://tickets.throckmortontheatre.org/Online/ or call the Throckmorton Theatre box office at 415-383-9600.
