Lua Hadar with Twist

  • San Francisco International Arts Festival Fort Mason, 2 Marina Blvd., Gallery 308 in Building A San FRancisco, CA (map)

The San Francisco International Arts Festival presents multi-lingual vocalist Lua Hadar with her band Twist live in concert, to premiere a new music video, Our Common Humanity. Twist’s fourth album, set to release in 2019, will feature Hadar’s originals and “twists” of traditional folk tunes. Our Common Humanity, one of Lua’s new originals, is the soundtrack for the music video that will make its debut at the festival in May.

Coming from the traditions of theatre and cabaret, Hadar is a storyteller who gathers in the audience and takes them with her on a voyage, around the world and back through time. Singing in several languages, she reaches out to make the point that no matter what the language, the human emotion is the same. Common needs, fears and joys characterize the human experience. Lua says, “The assault on our Democracy and on human rights has galvanized me to stand up for equal rights for all, and has inspired the music video, Our Common Humanity.”

Her versatile band plays in many styles, twisting the grooves of source material, as Hadar’s voice soars and growls. Music Director/Piano: Jason Martineau; Bass: Sascha Jacobsen; Drums: Celso Alberti; Percussion: Ian Dogole; Reeds: Sheldon Brown.
