Crossroads (Sunnyside Records) is the third recording by the group Hemispheres, following the release of their DVD, Ian Dogole & Hemispheres in Concert (Global Fusion Music) and their CD Convergence (Jazzheads). As is the hallmark of any Hemispheres project, Crossroads offers a kaleidoscopic brew of musical styles, instrumentation and moods, moving seamlessly between the jazz and world music arenas.

The majority of the compositions are originals from the band, coming from leader/percussionist Ian Dogole and woodwind virtuosos Sheldon Brown and Paul McCandless. Fresh interpretations of compositions by guitarist/pianist Ralph Towner, legendary trumpeter Woody Shaw and Iranian composer/multi-instrumentalist Hossein Alizadeh round out the recording. Bassist Bill Douglass, pianist Frank Martin and special guest vocalist Hossein Massoudi deliver sparkling contributions to this CD. This project was launched with the help of a Career Development Grant from the Marin Arts Council.
